why expanding gate valve can’t be used on choke manifold

Recently, one customer request one choke manifold by expanding gate valve. As we know, expanding gate valve is original from Cameron USA. but we seldom use it on choke manifold. Maybe years ago, end user used this kind of choke manifold with expanding gate valve. so today, we point the reason why expanding gate valve should’t be used.

From API 16c standard, choke manifold should be made according to API 6A PSL3. From PSL3 RT request, we found that casting body can not pass the requet. Normally expanding gate valve body is casting body. so we got the answer that expanding gate valve should’t be used on choke manifold.
