Service Memory in Oman

After more than 10 years working, we always recall what we have experienced in the last working days. As a sales people, we always go abroad to joint exhibition and we have few chance to do the after sale service. In my impression, I have one experience of joining after sales service in Oman that I stayed about 20 days in field camp.

In 2012, when I join the second company, we have supplied one flushby unit to Well Solution Oman. As there is too much sand, so some parts is blocked by sand. I and one technical people were sent to fix the problem at June of 2012.

I remember that it is visa on arrival for our china people. When we arrived at Muscat, customer picked up to main office in Muscat and sent us to oilfield in the next day. Oilfield is in south of Oman which is about 300 kilometers from Muscat. After flat road, it wild free desert road. All the pickup truck is setting soft sponge on the top. When we drive the flat road, we didn’t feel fast when speed reached 100km/h. but on desert, we felt very fast when speed reached 80km/h. and my head touch top of pickup sometimes. After 3 hours driving, we arrived at camp. Camp charge arranged 2 men room for us, which was a 20’ container with 2 single bed and one air condition. So my oilfield experience started from that moment.

Working time per day is from 6 am to 6 pm. Service leader should take permission mission report form oil company CCED. And then they took us to the working area. When we arrived there, we found that rig was set up, and beam pump head was taken out. The workover rig was used to do the well clean job. They need to take the suck rod out. And clean the wellbore, as there were too much sand inside which block the sucker rod pump entrance.

So our job was cooperated with them to take sucker rod out and do the clean, and then put sucker rod in. If there was problem on flushby unit, we would fix it. It was a very hard time. As temperature outside is nearly 55 centigrade degree. We pulled the sucker rod out and pump chemicals into wellbore to clean the well. After clean, the wellbore should be killed for some days. There was some field supervisor, and they will arrange detailed job to service team to make sure well clean is going well.

After one day job, we could go to active room to play cards and watch some TV. But it was pity, we don’t know Arabic language.

After 20 days working, all jobs were finished. We were back to Muscat. And say goodbye to the service people.

Although I can’t remember all the details, it is amazing memory to me.
